WELCOME to a brand new theatre company teaching African history to our children!

The CommUNITY Performing Arts & Touring Theatre (CPATT) started off as a dream about 8 years ago. I wanted to somehow combine my passion for theatre with my passion in wanting our children to learn more about their incredible African history.  Unfortunately, this history is mostly unknown.

I wanted to do this with the hopes that having our children to learn more in this area will not only instil a sense of pride and self-empowerment, but can create more unity and strength within many of our communities.

So in focusing on these two acts of service, CPATT was born!  Slow and steady strides over the years began to make this all more and more a reality. Despite the challenges, the key was to never give up!

It is exciting to see the Arts included in STEAM because it is important to keep the Arts alive, specifically in our schools. The Arts has a way of revealing and understanding parts of who you truly are. The Arts help to enhance and build communication skills by way of expression and presentation.

Feeling compassion and to connect with one another are basic human traits. Advanced technology and adapting to communicating less and less with each other, even while in another person's physical presence, have stopped us from being able to feel a genuine level of compassion. We are flooded and exposed with an alarming volume of violence and hate through various forms of media daily. This has negatively impacted our world and most of all our children with a contagious effect. Being able to feel compassion allows us to be kind to one another and to spread love.

With CPATT we are reintroducing the connectivity of communication and compassion through live theatre to our children. The good news is that we already have 6 exciting plays ready to share with our youth!

In April 2018, CPATT decided to test the waters and did a two week promotional tour on a shoestring budget. We performed one of our 6 plays to several schools in the Atlanta area. I am excited and pleased to report that the reviews were extremely positive! In fact, the consensus was that our children wanted to see more. We can definitely make that work!

CPATT brings ancient history to life. Our plays will not only introduce this history in a fun way but they are geared to WOW the youth between K-12th grade. All of our plays bring past historical figures to life covering history from ancient kingdoms such as Kemet (Egypt) and Mali to learning about anti-enslavement heroes such as Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman. The other good news is that more plays are in the works!

Each play lasts between approximately 45-60 minutes. They are exciting and interactive to help our precious young audience to learn and have so much fun at the same time. CPATT will also create job opportunities providing work experience for newly trained theatre graduates.

Understanding our history allows us to better understand the present in order to properly prepare for the future.

We have the business plan all sorted and ready for a full launch. We just need your help in order to get better-looking stage equipment, costume props, cover overhead and be able to help pay a team of actors to perform two of our plays while on tour during 2019. This will also help give us the traction and PR needed to produce more plays.

What sets us apart from other theatre companies is that CPATT is very flexible and mobile. We will set up and bring the performance straight to your school and community!

Please help us by donating so that we can provide a great alternative for our children to not only learn their history but also to learn about theatre all while having fun at the same time. Not to mention that this can provide a huge stress relief for our Principals, Teachers and parents who can also join in on the fun!

We are excited to take this journey together with you. Thank you so much for your support!
