Cheyenne Monteith Operation
Donation protected
Cheyenne is 11 yo and has diplegic cerebral palsy due to the loss of oxygen to her brain at birth (she was born at 32 weeks). She has to have reconstructive surgery in approximately 1 month on her knees and both feet, as well as the removal of the plates and screws on her hips (which was put in in 2015 in South Africa) and the release of the adductor and calf muscles. Furthermore she will require ongoing rehabilitation and physio therapy to learn to walk again. Unfortunately due to our current Visa we cannot work, and we dont qualify for medicare. The doctors and surgeons have been very kind to arrange most of the requirements to be covered, however the Anesthesia and AFO's (ankle and foot orthotics) and possibly some of the rehabilitation will be out of our pocket, and therefore we require some assistance to raise the funds. Cheyenne is a very upbeat and happy child despite her disability, and is very excited to have the surgery to reach a small level of normality and to be able to join her sister, friends and peers in day to day activities without difficulty. Any assistance will be appreciated by the family and friends of Cheyenne.
