Chemo Gift Bags

Tax deductible
Im Kizzy, a 36yr old mummy to 3 young children.Sadly during the school summer holidays this year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors have a treatment plan in place starting with chemotherapy, followed by surgery, radiotherapy and Herceptin. When I was diagnosed and then told the treatment plan, I instantly wasn’t really concerned about surgery or radiotherapy but terrified about Chemotherapy. This is the part of treatment that ultimately makes you feel poorly when actually at the moment I feel fine. This was the part that made my heart sink, thinking of how I explained it to my children. This isn’t something you can hide, the physical side effects, hair loss, nail loss, sickness , fatigue were all swirling around in my head. I would be lying if I said that I’m not scared of chemotherapy, I am , to be honest bloody terrified for both myself but mainly the affect it may have on my previous children. Getting a cancer diagnosis doesn’t just affect the person it is physically happening to but everyone around them that loves and cares about them. So this is where my story begins about wanting to raise money for this amazing charity. It took a couple of days after diagnosis before I could bring myself to look at all the literature the breast care nurse gave me. Inside this pack was a leaflet about free chemogift bags that the nurse had said were amazing. I contacted them through facebook and instantly they responded and advised their local ambassador would contact me. She did almost instantly and said she would like to meet with me the next day and bring me a bag. She explained on the phone that she too had been through chemotherapy, which instantly made me feel better, and I found myself really looking forward to meeting this lady. This lady was a stranger, I only knew her name nothing else, but that didn’t matter all I knew was that SHE had been through Chemo and cancer and had survived. This courageous lady had come out the other end and wanted to meet with me and chat .When we met I was feeling very low but by the time she left I was feeling positive and totally inspired. Within these gift bags are personal items that help you along the chemo journey. All items that give you a little bit of comfort that other ladies have found useful during treatment. Things I had never thought about, a soft baby toothbrush as chemo can give you sores in your mouth and black nail varnish to prevent nail loss! This bag is truely amazing because it is packed full of love by people who have experienced chemotherapy and breast cancer themselves. Please see the link below to the charity’s website. This is a  truely amazing charity that really makes a personal positive impact on a ladies life at her most vulnerable time. Please help me by donating as much as you can, each bag costs £50 to fill , so even a few pounds will help buy an item to go in a bag.
