Chelsea’s Story and How to Help!

Chelsea Rivard is a life long resident of Terryville who at the age of 21  was diagnosed in recent months with a Medullablastoma Brain Tumor. This type of brain tumor is very common among young children and typically presents as a benign mass. Unfortunately in Chelsea’s case, she was diagnosed with an extremely rare, malignant form of the disease. Luckily, due to her age she was accepted into the research and treatment program at St Jude’s Hospital located in Memphis TN. During her stay there she
underwent radiation treatment and genetic testing. She came home to complete a chemotherapy cycle and had a follow-up MRI to make sure the mass was completelyremoved. Sadly, the genetic test results came back and presented that her P53 gene is “broken” and two new masses are currently developing. The P53 gene is one that we all have present in our genetic makeup to protect against cancerous cells. Her condition is now terminal. Through it all she continues to maintain her wacky sense of humor and has shown grace and dignity well beyond her age.

We are collectively working together to raise funds to help her family overcome the uncovered costs associated with this dreadful disease.

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
