Our beautiful niece Brooke Schweikert Rakoski was diagnosed with breast cancer last August. Receiving this shocking news is not what a 33 year old Wife/Mother expects to hear. There is no family history of cancer and no one has a mammogram at age 33!
Brooke has been receiving an aggressive program of chemo the past several months to attack this aggressive strain of cancer. She has been sailing thru doctor appointments, tests and treatments while working and taking care of her family.
Since the first of 2018 Brooke has been experiencing severe headaches and made several trips to the ER. She was finally admitted for testing and after ten days of unrelenting pain, Brooke and her family received the news that the cancer cells had spread into her spinal fluid and brain. She is now going to receive another type of chemo directly into her head. She will also be having surgery and radiation treatments this spring for the breast cancer.
In addition to Brooke's health problems, many of you know Matt has been unable to work for several months due to a car accident and having foot surgery. He is recovering from that and has recently accepted a new Chef's job.
The past four months have not been good to Brooke and Matt. Needless to say Brooke will not be working in the near future and life goes on - along with the bills - rent, utilities, gas, food, health insurance and mounting medical bills. I have set up this GoFundMe account to raise funds to help them. This should be the happiest time of their lives for this young family - Sophia is only 7 and Parker is 4!
