Hello, Family, Friends, and New Friends.
I am Melisia, Rosario (Chayo) Padilla's baby sister. I am here to urge you to help my brother fight an aggressive and advanced gastric cancer diagnosis. Two weeks ago we learned that Chayo had cancer. This past week we learned that it was a locally advanced, aggressive gastric cancer. Gastric cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage because there are no early signs or symptoms. We know that he will need pre-op chemotherapy, followed by surgery, then potentially more chemotherapy or radiation therapy. The cost of these treatments are going to be overwhelming even with insurance (we all know what kind of nightmare it is right now dealing with insurance).

Your donations will help my brother offset expenses while he's out of work, travel expenses, meal expenses, medical visits, and medicine. We cannot do this without YOU! The doctors are moving fast and we need funding almost immediately. Why help MY brother you ask? Let me tell you about my brother. I have never met a more humble, unselfish, honest, and loving person in the whole world. This Christian man has never sought to own material things in this world. His self-imposed purpose was to help his Mom and 7 brothers and sisters from the day he could work, which was in his teens. My brother has never married. Never had his own home. He was happy being there for his family and was everyone's favorite uncle. But he was never just Brother, Uncle, Son, or Cousin - he was Chayo. His adventerous soul led him to the love of rock wall climbing and visits to Historical Markers. His passion for reading of Sci-Fi and History were well known. That is why I was just heartbroken yesterday to hear that he felt he had to resell all his precious books back to Barnes & Noble to raise money.
