The first school bags for 300 Chau- Ma ethnic kids

Hi everyone.

I’m Thuy Dang. I come from Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. Today, I would like to tell you a story about Chau-Ma, the rural ethnic children.

14 years ago, I traveled to Bao Loc city, that is far about 200 km from my home. It was here, I discovered the rural community village of Chau-Ma Ethnic people. It’s a small village nestled in forest and mountain near Damb’ri waterfall. People here are solely dependent on farming. It is a remote community. It takes about one hour and a half to access the local market by motor bike or couple hours by walking. Almost their life is in forest and tea fields.  A few years after, my friend, a monk, Dong Chau master decided to build a pagoda there to bring education to this village. It was then a road was built for trying to connect them to urban life.

Since meeting these lovely people, and particularly the children of the community, every year, I save a portion of my salary to help more than 300 Chau-Ma kids by food, milk, shampoo and warm clothes. This year, in order to help these children, I saved as much as I could to purchase notebooks, pens, toys, mooncakes, candy and pay for the delivery fee. My charity trip took place on August 22nd, 2019. But I still feel very sad because my effort is not enough. It’s very difficult to do it alone. More than 300 Chau-Ma kids have never gotten enough items they need. I really hope from now to end of this school year, with your help, we together can raise the funds to help them own the first school bags in their life, (now they keep all school stuff in the plastic bags). I was going to a book store for checking price and the cheapest one is about 10 dollars. I wish I could save enough 3000 needed to buy these bags. So, I would like your help. If we can raise a minimum of 3000 then I will fill them with the items I can afford. I only need money to buy the school bags, other fee such as delivery, organization, etc. I will pay them by my saving money.

We should corporate to make our world a better place. It’s just a small action but will make a huge impact in the kid’s mind. We are really luckier than lot of people outside. I’m really hoping there are 300 good-heart people here, who want to invest in the ongoing education for these children. Every donation of a bag will get a personal thank you note from the kid that received it.  If more money than 3000 is raised, I will buy other things for them such as new shoes, new hats, new clothes. I really need your help in accomplishing this huge goal.  Thank you for your attention to my story about Chau Ma kids.
