Charov Family Fire Recovery
Our friend Nik Charov had a serious house fire this week. It started in the dryer vent and went on to do untold thousands of dollars worth of damage.
We are so relieved that Nik, his wife Xanthe, and his sons Huck and Max are safe. Unfortunately, they are out of their house as they put the pieces of their life back together. They are looking for a temporary home (at summer prices in Portland), wrestling with insurance adjusters, cleaning up what damage they can, and trying to keep the beat on the end of school.
We are not sure how much this fire will cost them, but we do know the wheels of insurance claims turn slowly and that mortgage payments and other expenses don't stop because you had a fire.
We started this Go Fund Me so Nik's many friends from far and wide have a way to help his family now, in the short term, when there's no insurance money coming in and their lives are filled with uncertainty. We'd love to raise at least $1,000 by next Wednesday, May 29.
