Charmaine McKinney Recovery Fundraiser

12/16/21 - Welcome back to Charmaine's Go-Fund-Me page and thank you for your continued support of Charmaine and her family as they support her in her healing journey and their journey as a family.

To update all of you, Charmaine had surgery to remove a benign brain tumor earlier this year.  You were all so supportive to Charmaine and her family through that surgical procedure and months-long recovery.  Many of you were probably starting to see her back at the salon and tending to all of us, as she does.  I think we can all agree, it was great to get back to a sense of normal.  I know she felt the same and was thrilled to be advancing in her recovery. 

As Charmaine recovered, she noted she was still suffering from significant headaches seemingly triggered by laughing and other activities that increase pressure in her brain.  Along with the brain tumor, Charmaine was known to have another issue called a Chiari-Malformation. A Chiari malformation is a problem in which a part of the brain (the cerebellum) at the back of the skull bulges through a normal opening in the skull where it joins the spine. This puts pressure on parts of the brain and spinal cord and can cause mild to severe symptoms and headaches.

Charmaine had surgery yesterday to manage the Chiari Malformation.  The surgery was successful, she is awake, and once again, making progress toward recovery.  Charmaine is anticipated to be hospitalized through the weekend, then will transition to home to continue that recovery.  Charmaine will not be working during this time, so we are once again asking for your generosity in helping this family, as they navigate this stressful and difficult time.  We are looking to raise an additional $10,000.00 to again offset the cost of medical bills, salon responsibilities, daycare for "the little man", and other expenses Charmaine is responsible for during this recovery.  You will see the first time around we raised 10,000.00.  That money was used for medical bills, copays, etc.  Thank you for your generosity!

There is also a meal train that has been started to help in this immediate time Charmaine is in the hospital.

Also, last week, as if they are not dealing with enough, Charmaine and her family were involved in a car accident and totaled their vehicle.  These are stressful times for everyone but anything you can do to also help with a vehicle is appreciated.
