Help Make Our Youth Hockey Dreams Come True
Last August, as the eighteen members of the Charlotte Rush U14-AA hockey team, we began a journey that has led to this moment, the moment of our hockey lives. After eight months, nine tournaments, and an incredible record of 43-16-4, we just earned an at-large bid to attend the biggest tournament of our lives, the Tier 2 USA Hockey Nationals tournament in South Bend, Indiana, April 4-8.
For all of us, we’ve been preparing for this opportunity since we first took to the ice as house league players. Through it all and this season in particular with Coach Jason Wiklund, we’ve learned to overcome the disadvantages of playing ice hockey in the south, where ice time is limited and competition is far away; to earn the respect of our northern counterparts through hard-fought games; and, most importantly, to work hard and as a team toward a common goal.
In addition to keeping our skates sharp and our legs strong now that we’ve qualified for Nationals, our goal is to raise enough money to fund this once-in-a-lifetime trip, and we need your help.
There are thousands of hockey players in the U.S., but only a relative few ever get the opportunity to compete at Nationals. Will you please consider a donation to help make our youth hockey dreams come true. In return, we promise that we’ll make you proud in South Bend, with our play, our sportsmanship, and our character. Thank you!
