Support Charlotte Heard Battle Breast Cancer

Hi, my name is Kirsten Heard I am fundraising for my mother Charlotte Heard.

I’ve never done anything like this before but with the circumstances a little help can go a long ways.

On July 8th, 2022 my mother was diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma of left breast and ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). Receiving such news had her perplexed and instantly worried for what’s to come. At this time she couldn’t process what that meant for herself, work, family and friends. Once diagnosed things started moving very quickly because this is a aggressive cancer. From various phone calls from different doctor offices,specialist, insurance offices and medical billing to get things started. Off to a rocky start with her current insurance only willing to pay what feels like a small amount compared to what she is being asked to come out of pocket seem to be unrealistic. She went on to apply for medical help but was soon denied because she didn’t meet the requirements. Stressed out to the max with trying to maneuver through this unexpected time with the incoming medical bills and out of pocket cost just to get things started before they worsen has took a huge financial toll on her. Working as hard as she can to stay a float putting as many hours as she can at work her account still seems to be overdrawn with new medical charges. Every appointment and procedure she has had it’s been required for all money up front or signed papers for payments to come out of the bank. She doesn’t have that kind of money just sitting around. It’s going to cost $6000 to cover what has been done and the first chemotherapy treatment. In January it’ll start all over again. I am creating this account in hopes that with the help, generosity and prayers of others we can get my mother through such a devastating time. Every little bit helps and is much appreciated.

My mother is one of the strongest people I know. She is a mother of six and a grandmother of eleven. She’s always been a hard worker and go getter. Working two to three jobs at a time just so we can stay a float growing up. From fast food, to home and health and currently a hostess in the food nutrition department at Medical City Hospital. She has dedicated her life to serving those around her. My mother is a very selfless woman who would give her last dollar, clothing or food to a person in need and expect nothing in return. She is a survivor of domestic violence and a true survivor of life. Along with all that she has going on upon finding out her diagnosis her boyfriend of fourteen years decided it was time to end their relationship and have her move out. Now living with family she is trying her very best to stay mended, strong and courageous. I would say my mother is the definition of independent and a superb role model to all around her. We pray It’s time for her to receive the help she has never failed to give out.
