Charlie Ladiona's Pelvic Surgery

Christmas Eve was tough for the Tantoy and Ladiona families. Our furry little brother Charlie was spending time with his extended family in Henderson, Nevada while his parents and sisters were in the Philippines. Fortunately, his aunts, uncles, and cousins are basically his family too because our family is very close. He is one of the few family pets surviving nowadays.

Unfortunately, on Christmas Eve a dear elderly family member in hospice got sick and a nurse had to be called and during all the commotion Charlie was able to slip out the door. Charlie was then hit by an SUV and went underneath the car and was grazed by a tire. He was still conscious and present but his pelvis was broken in three key areas that help support his weight. He was made comfortable at an Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Nevada but he can not walk and requires complicated surgery to avoid paralysis and further excruciating pain. 

His current doctor in California is confident about his ability to recover from the incident, but it is going to take a lot of work. Because of the shock and trauma, Charlie's weight dropped significantly. He's currently being nursed back to a healthy enough condition where surgery can begin, but the process is pretty costly because of the time and amount of care needed. 

Getting him into expert hands as soon as possible was key for this type of pelvic injury. The immediate recovery he received right after the accident, and all the tests, X-Rays and medicine he received has already cost close to $1,000 and the fees for the pre-surgical care and the procedure itself will cost $6,000.

We understand that the holidays are a rough time financially and we are very grateful for any help you can give to our boy. Charlie's companionship has helped with the depressive and anxiety disorders that run in our family, and for the last 10 years, he's become a big part of our family.
