CHARLIE: A SLAUGHTERHOUSE SURVIVOR
Donation protected
Meet Charlie:
One of few fortunate dogs rescued from a slaughterhouse in China where he was destined to become part of the vile, illegal, meat trade.
How I met Charlie:
A rescue organization that I volunteer for asked if I was interested in fostering a 2 -½ year -old Golden Retriever brought over from China. He had been with them for a month and continued to exhibit behaviors unlike anything they had ever seen.
When I met Charlie, it was clear his young life had been filled with horror. Anxiety and fear seemed to be the "norm" for him. This painfully thin, lost soul of a dog did not even know how to respond to a gentle touch. With Charlie in such desperate need of help, a good home was unlikely without someone willing to take on his challenges. In July 2018, Charlie and I headed home to begin his training to grant him a new lease on life.
A glimpse into Charle's past:
Charlie and other dogs rescued from international slaughterhouses have survived the unimaginable. Animal activists describe the dogs as being crammed together into tiny, rusty cages before being packed into trucks to be driven cross country for hours or even days. Many die along the way due to dehydration and suffocation.
Arriving at the slaughterhouse, they are herded into dark, filthy rooms with traces of blood on the floor. Witnesses report dogs being dragged out by the neck, beaten over the head, dehaired and blow torched for meat to be sold. The vision of terrified dogs haunts the activists for months to come. Once rescued, veterinarians state the dogs are in extremely poor health suffering from malnutrition, shock, and painful skin conditions because of the brutality and trauma they experienced.
Charlie now:
Charlie and I have spent endless hours together exploring his new world and developing a trusting relationship. The payoff has been huge! He is socialized, accepts affection, and even lies in my lap with those big brown puppy eyes looking up at me. ..monumental moments to say the least!
Charlie's future: Foster to Adoption
Charlie has made progress, but he still has behaviorial issues to overcome. This could take months or even years, but I have faith he can do it. Based on his progress so far, if Charlie continues to have consistent training in a loving enviroment, he will triumph over his past. I loved this little guy from the minute I met him and want only the best for him . So, I am happy to say I have decided to Adopt him!
Why I need your help:
I need to raise $2500.00 to cover adoption fee, exams and medical expenses. The rescue organization adoption fee is $1000.00 which covers expenses to rescue international dogs. The remaining $1500.00 will go towards medical expenses and insurance to nurture Charlie back to good health.
Thank you!
Charlie and I are grateful for your support. We ask you to remember what these poor dogs have been through and support organizations that rescue international dogs .
