Charlene's Gallbladder Surgery Fund

My name is Charlene Cleary. I am a wife and mother to a very active 8yr old boy. I am urgently trying to raise funds for Gallbladder surgery.  For over two years now, I have been struggling with Gallbladder disease. Basically, it is full of stones and not functioning properly. I have made countless trips to the doctors and emergency rooms. I have been hospitalised three times so far and I am currently on a waiting list for surgery.... most people in Northern Ireland are on a waiting list for 1-5 years or longer! With Covid-19 now in the mix I am afraid it will be much longer. During my last hospital stay in November 2020, I was advised per NHS/consultant that only cancer patients and life or death emergencies are receiving surgeries due to Covid and that there was nothing they could do for me except refer me back to emergency if I have any more attacks. The only way I would get surgery is if a stone gets stuck, a perforation occurs or my gallbladder ruptures. The thing is, I am currently averaging an attack once a week. The probability of having a stone get stuck is high for me and that is the last thing that I want to experience. I have done everything I can to combat the pain and attacks on my own and nothing is helping. The pain is constant and I can barely eat. Five bites and I am done.  I literally feel sick all the time. I am losing weight and my hair is falling out. Why is it ok to leave me in this condition? I shouldn't have to wait until things become a major medical emergency before I can get the health care that I need.... This is very distressing for me and my family and given the situation with Covid and already having Sarcoidosis in my lungs the last place that I want to be going back and forth to is the A&E. My Gallbladder has to go before I develop any further complications. The only way to have that happen now is to seek private medical care. So, I am asking anyone who can to please help by donating or sharing. All monies will go towards consultation, diagnostics, surgery, travel and aftercare. I understand that times are tough for everyone right now. Honestly, I feel guilty for even asking but I have no other choice right now. Thank you!
