Charla’s Unexpected Medical Journey

When we decided to start growing our family, we did not expect to head down a serious medical journey.

Prior to proceeding with fertility treatment Charla was referred to the University of Minnesota to establish care and discuss her complicated medical history of Leukemia with an OB/GYN.

Through establishing care we learned that Charla was diagnosed as a child with Non-Cirrhotic Portal Hypertension. To ensure it was safe for her to become pregnant we did some testing, and found that she has 3 large splenic artery aneurisms - all which require immediate attention due to size and location. We also learned that the portal hypertension has caused extremely large gastric varices/veins and will need addressing in the very near future.

All the money donated will be used toward the medical expenses and bills were seeing piling up: from the testing that has taken place, specialist visits, procedures, ER trips and hospital stays as well as any procedures and hospital stays coming up. Anything that we have leftover, will be used to help us cover growing our family however that may look (but only after Charla is heathy - that’s our priority).
