Charity Drive for NYE Concerts in Churches

The Volunteer Committee for the New Year’s Eve Concerts in the Downtown Churches are announcing the 30th annual concert series will take place again this year via a video concert on YouTube. Using the expertise of Bredin Digital, the committee is once again presenting a “live-on-video” concert featuring a number of diverse performances by many talented musicians and bands. The concert has been prerecorded and will air on YouTube at 7 p.m. on December 31, 2021.

The six churches involved each year are St. John’s United Church, St. Lawrence Anglican Church, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Wall Street United Church, First Baptist Church, and First Presbyterian Church. A number of these churches, including the Church of Latter Day Saints, welcomed the artists inside to record their performances. However while the shows are not live this year, the committee is hoping to continue the tradition for the community to provide free will donations to help support the charitable goals of the Churches. The committee is instituting a GoFundMe page to help facilitate the efforts of those who wish to give this year. “The COVID-19 Crisis continues to limit opportunities to support our local artists, to support our local heritage, to support our charities, and to support our community,” says Donna Matheson, Chair of the NYE Concert Committee. “As we are not able to hold this event live again this year, I am hopeful that our community will continue to contribute to the Churches and charities as they normally would do at a live performance.”
