Support the Charitable Chef

David Heffley owner and chef of the Four Corners Luncheonette and Catering, has been a hard-working and enthusiastic member of his community for 35 years. He has hired and mentored many young people along the way and has been heavily involved in countless charitable activities. Some of these were: 

- Preparing holiday dinners for the homeless in downtown Albany
- Preparing food for fundraisers to benefit the Legal Project at Stuyvesant Plaza and Pancreatic Cancer Walk
- Donating gift certificates to worthy organizations in the area
- Donating food to the Albany Irish Fest to benefit the organ restoration project at St Francis of Assisi Church 
- Donating food  to customers being treated for cancer
- Participating each year in the “Cooks for Kids” fundraiser, a benefit for “Two Together”, an inner city reading program for disadvantaged kids (he talks about this one the most)
- Providing thousands of “FCL Performance Muffins” for Tour de Cure bike riders, and raising tens of thousands of dollars for diabetes research over the past 7 years. (David’s wearing the Luncheonette Cycling Team’s latest jersey in the picture.)

 Now, after many years of giving, David is in need of help. Both he and his wife Lisa have had serious medical issues recently. When David stopped at the hospital on Christmas Day to visit Lisa who had just undergone emergency surgery, he suffered his second pulmonary embolism in eighteen months and spent the holiday week two floors above his wife in the hospital. He’s back at work, and back to raising donations for this year’s Tour de Cure, but is now faced with growing expenses and debt arising from their convalescence.  In a few weeks his wife must undergo another major surgery.
