Channing Recovery

Donation protected

Tuesday, November 5th, at 8:00AM I received call via Facebook Messenger that my younger brother, Channing Gray, was rumored to be at UVA’s Intensive Care Unit. To my surprise, and fear of the worse, I started calling him and then immediate family  to find his whereabouts. After about 10 minutes of panicking, and hearing from Martha Jefferson and UVA that my brother wasn’t admitted, I got another call affirming he was indeed fighting for his life in UVA’s ICU.

Once there, I received the whole story of why I’m now seeing my youngest sibling hooked up to breathing tubes. Channing was involved in a very devastating car wreck in Madison County around 6:00pmMonday night where he struck a tree going about 50mph with no seatbelt on. By the grace of God, a Good Samaritan was present as the accident happened, and attended to my brother and called the accident in. Channing was then airlifted to UVA medical and spent 4 days in ICU suffering from a long list of injuries (many of which are internal). Thursday evening, after showing the ability to talk, use the restroom on his own and walk with a walker (very unbalanced but progress nonetheless) he was released very hesitantly to 24 hour In-Home Care and Physical Therapy. While we celebrated the In Home recovery starting on Channing’s birthday (Nov. 7th), unbeknownst to us, Channings conditions were further complicated and early this morning (Saturday, November 9th) family rushed Channing back to ICU where he will be for an extended period.

At the time of Channings accident he was inbetween jobs with job interviews lined up he was really excited about. Needless to say, it will take months of healing and recovery before he would be cleared to return to work. Channing’s medical stay and bills are continuing to add up and his post hospital bills (Physical and Occupational Therapy) while continue to grow as well. Many have responded with prayers and concern for Channing, and that’s been greatly appreciated, but here’s a chance to really help put Channing at ease financially. While he’s still fighting for his life, this is our chance to rally around him and show financial support.

We know that this situation could’ve easily been one where we were campaigning for his funeral arrangements, but God sparred Channing's life in a situation where others haven’t been so fortunate.

Thank you all for your prayers and love shown towards our family at this difficult time. I pray God blesses and protects you all.
