Chai Bike Ride

Donation protected
Hello all!

On October 29th, Chai will be participating in a fourteen-mile bike ride to raise money for charity. Chai is a group of Jewish teens in Amherst, MA who are looking to explore their culture. An important part of that culture is participating in Tzedakah, Jewish charitable giving.

Last year, we were able to raise over $900 during our Ride to Provide event! In a later event, after the board researched and presented nineteen different charities to the group, we voted on four different charities to donate the money to. We ended up donating $300 to Ceres , an organization that works to transition our economy to one that promotes ecological sustainability. $300 to Tapestry Health , a local reproductive health clinic. $200 to the Jewish Coalition for Disaster Relief which is an organization that's recent work has focused on Nepali and Philipino refugees and the East African food crisis. Lastly, the final $100 dollars we raised went to Kiva , an organization that allows people to give and receive microloans that are returned and regiven year after year.

That was only one year of charity supplied by only one event! We hope to repeat this process with new charities this year.

We would greatly appreciate it if you sponsored our bike ride. All of our money comes from family/friends that we have emailed. We believe that we are responsible for creating change in the communities that we belong to.
