After losing a younger sibling to a drug overdose a few years back, I felt God calling me back to my home community, Mastic Beach, New York, as a domestic missionary. My wife and I left our careers and personal pursuits behind to focus on lifting up others who find themselves in dire circumstances. When we arrived, the need and depravity was deeper than I had originally anticipated. The small community that was already plagued with poverty, drugs and everything that comes along with that, had been recently wiped out by hurricane Sandy. Many people who were already without, lost absolutely everything that they owned and fell into deep despair, hopelessness and addiction. We started to prayerfully reach out to our community by packing up boxes of groceries to deliver to local families who are without, some even without dinner for the night. The extra food that we had would be distributed to local church pantries whose shelves remain bare without outside donations. We also host a free community meal each Monday evening for who ever would like to join us. Our door is always open to others! We are asking anyone who comes across this page if they would donate their pocket change to us. Often times sitting in our car or underneath our couch is a few dollars worth of change. That few dollars from enough people, can help us to have a greater impact on our community. Consider giving, even if it's only a few dollars, every donation truly adds up.Your change will be used to supply struggling families with groceries, hot meals, diapers for local mothers, school clothing and back packs and various other needs that come across our path. We also lead a youth group here in our community, that we would love to do some large outreaches with here in Mastic Beach, hence the reason I have set the donation goal so high. We are in need of a large van to transport the food and the youth around, as well as a building to store all of the food that is being donated.
