Cello Museum Founders Campaign

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dr. Brenda Neece, and I’m the curator and founder of the Cello Museum. I have spent nearly two and half years working more than full time to build and establish the Cello Museum. I put together an amazing team of volunteers, and we have been operating primarily on volunteer work.

The Cello Museum

We post weekly articles as well as online exhibitions. In addition, here are the highlights of what we’ve done since our website launched in September 2020:

  • Earlier this year, we worked with the London Cello Society on their fabulous Soul Music Project.
  • In April 2022, we created the UNACP.
  • We started a Cello Book Club in January 2021, and we spoke with authors of cello-related books throughout the year, including Isabel Rogers, Leora O’Carroll, Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason, Kittie Lambton, Gill Tennant, and Hilary and Julian Wang.
  • We gave a presentation for the North Carolina Cello Society in April 2021.
  • We were community participants in The Face to Face Speaker Forum Preview Virtual Event with Yo-Yo Ma, cellist, cultural ambassador, and U.N. Messenger of Peace, in May 2021. The program generously gave our Cello Museum visitors free tickets to watch the program online.
  • We participated in the Waltham Forest Cello Fest in June 2021.

The Cello Guild

Our next big project is creating an online Cello Guild with educational resources for cellists, including video and Zoom-based courses, an online library, and a book and sheet music shop.

To move forward with the Guild and our next online exhibitions, we need administrative help. Our goal is to hire a full-time assistant.

Make a Difference: Become a Cello Museum Founder

This is your chance to become a Cello Museum Founder and make our work possible. We are asking you for your financial gift to support the Cello Museum. With a donation of $100 or more, you will become one of our Cello Museum Founders.

Founders will help us hire our first paid team member - an administrative assistant - allowing our specialists to focus on research and writing projects to create exhibitions, articles, a podcast, and other educational materials for the Cello Museum. The assistant will also help build and run the Cello Guild.

To hire someone, we need at least $20,000 for one year. We can start with $5,000 for three months, but we’d like to be able to offer a year-long contract to start. Anything we raise beyond that will help us cover our operating costs.
