Help Celeste replace her computer!

Hey everyone:

I'm asking for help with a laptop replacement. My Macbook has a cascade of problems (logic board; monitor; keyboard), which is going to cost too much to replace.

To try and keep costs down for the near future, I'm going to switch over to a Samsung  Chromebook ($499). I'd appreciate any help - my laptop is my primary way of earning income, with writing, research and academic work.
