6/29/20 - UPDATE:
Celebration of Life for Peter at the Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA, on July 11, 2020, at 10:00 am.

STORY:
On June 23, 2020, what started out to be a beautiful day to enjoy a family gathering at Eagle Falls, turned into a horrible tragic loss, that changed the lives of so many.

Peter (32) was enjoying himself with Braelyn, their children, brother-in-law and his family, nieces and nephews, and mother-in-law Kehau.  Peter and brother-in-law Brandon (Braelyn's brother) decided to jump into the river together and swim across to the other side where more family was waiting for them.  The water was so cold and the current was strong.  His body froze up in the cold water and the swift current pulled him downstream and no one could get to him.  Despite the efforts of a young man who swam after him, he found Peter's body in a shallow area of the river, pulled him to safety and stayed with him until rescuers were able to get to them.  Peter died after resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.  Both Peter and Braelyns families drove  1 hour and 30 minutes to Firestation 54 in Gold Bar, to spend time with Peter before his body was taken away.

Peter was an AMAZING person.   He was kind-hearted, loving, caring,  a giving son, brother, Uncle, the best father and was there to help his family whenever help was needed.  He was a hard-working man who provided for his family.  He loved Braelyn very much and was soon to be her husband.  Peter loved and spoiled their 5 children they share together, Valentina (8), Cherish (7), Leonydes (5), Ezra (3), and Iris (1 1/2).   His children love their daddy so much.  They ask for him every day, and they say out loud "I love you, daddy."  Ezra and Iris enjoy their frequent brief "visits" from their daddy.... lots of giggling, smiling, pointing, and Ezra smiles and often says "Daddy you're so funny"...... The innocence of young children, and how they can see that we don't see.

Peter, thank you for being a wonderful part of our lives and for loving Braelyn and the children the way you did.  Your presence is still so strong around us.  We feel you, we love you forever and miss you so much!!!

I am Braelyn's mother, Kehau Martinez.  This page was created on behalf of the Martinez family to help support Braelyn with her portion of the unexpected memorial expenses to lay the love of her life to rest.  Also part of the funds will go to help Braelyn with expenses for their children.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you, for reaching out to support and show love to Braelyn, her children as well as the Sei family, during this tragic time.   While we are not able to respond to each expression of love currently, please know that our family loves and appreciates each and every one of you for your love, kindness, generosity, and prayers.

Thank you for your generous and kind donations.

*Donations are also being accepted through Venmo @Braelyn-Martinez

God bless you and your family always!

With Aloha,
Kehau Martinez and Ohana (family)
