Celebrating Our 20th Year
In July 2002 Acting Out held its first workshop. Twelve students participated that summer, and what started as an idea is now entering its 20th year. Sixteen months ago, I was not sure we would reach this milestone. But here we are.
In almost twenty years, we have produced a multitude of shows, instructed countless workshops, and held many classes. So how should we tell this story? With a documentary of course! Yes! We are making an Acting Out! movie.
Our documentary will premier in early 2022 at the Daly Theater, and we are inviting YOU to join us. This will be a HUGE event with food, drinks, and live entertainment; it's a celebration of our journey, and most importantly a celebration of the hundreds of people who have
contributed to our success. Within the documentary, there will be clips from shows, interviews, and more! Our filmmaker, Sean Reardon, is a graduate of Ithaca College, a professional videographer, that has worked on countless documentaries, was part of the team on the FX documentary; Key events in the life of Norma McCorvey, aka Jane Roe, and the videographer for Ed Markey’s Senate re-election campaign. Most importantly (to us!), Sean has been part of the Acting Out! family for many years.
While we can cover a portion of the $8,000 production costs, and to ensure the creation of a professional piece that captures our history, we are reaching out to you to help us raise the difference through this GOFUNDME. We are setting our goal at $4000, and your contributions will be noted on our website and in the credits of the film!
After the past 16 months, while we struggled to keep our doors open, you helped us survive. Now we want to commemorate all we have
accomplished over the past 20 years with this documentary. The past is so important to our future, so it’s important that we share what
YOU created! Now more than ever it is important to tell our story, showcase and appreciate your contributions to our memories,
and celebrate and share with the public your hard work, energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to Acting Out!.
And... to theater, the one thing that we share and genuinely believe in.
