Celebrating the Birth of our Lord Jesus with Refugee Children in Uganda.
Hello Friends and family,
I am William Wanyende, am 25, am a full time missionary working in the refugee camps with the youth and children. I love sharing the word of God with people and showing a practical love of Jesus, because his love was all tangible.
I am fundraising for a small Christmas party for the refugee children in different refugee camps to bless them, make them happy, to show them the tangible love of Jesus and to show them that someone loves and cares for them.
Most of the children in the refugee camps have no parents because they were either killed during the war or they were displaced and others have only single parents who can’t afford for them. They live in fear, they are traumatized and they don’t feel like they are loved. They don’t get all the meals of the day like some of us do. They go through hard times and suffering. They don’t get to celebrate Christmas because they can’t afford to even have good food for Christmas. And we would love to bless them just like Jesus has blessed us.
- [ ] Last year I organized a small Christmas party and we managed to bless a few children of about 1200 plus in one refugee camp with the help of just one friend who managed to help us with the funds and with my support from friends. It was joyful, they had good food, goat, roasting, balloons to play with and it was so much fun. We gave them hope and love.
This year, we aim at blessing 15000 plus children in different refugee camps all in Uganda and we can’t do it alone, so we are asking for your help in anyway you can. (Proverbs 3:28
If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.”) Any amount will be of help to us. In transportation, feeding, decorations, buying balls, sweets and organizing a good Christmas party for the children in different refugee Camps. This time as I was thinking about organizing for the children, God said, this work is not for you alone, and he said I should do a fundraiser. It is my first time to do this and well, God knows how it’s going to turn out.
We aim at teaching the children about the birth of Jesus, why we celebrate it and we will end the activities with the Jesus film. This will help the children to grow spiritually and know that there is someone who always loves them and wants a relationship with them. We will be having children from different religions and backgrounds and it will even impact their communities about the love of Jesus which is not just in words but it’s also practical.
"The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'
