Celebrating Amy Austin

Donation protected
Amy Austin was aged 28 when her life tragically and suddenly came to an end.

On Sunday 12th December at around 9.17pm on her journey back from Exeter, Amy's car broke down in an active lane between junction 30-31 of the M5.

A car collided into her car and Amy was airlifted to Exeter RD&E Hospital.

Amy sustained a major head injury and unfortunately she passed away mid morning Tuesday.

She was comfortable and surrounded by her father Colin and 5 sisters Gemma, Katie, Sophie, Kelsey and Hayley when this was announced.

Luckily, due to her being so young and healthy and her other organs being perfectly fine, she was able to donate all her abdominal organs to people critically in need.

The care and respect she received from the team at Exeter's ICU department was unparalleled and her family will be eternally grateful.

About Amy

  • Amy was a supervisor of housekeeping at TLH Leisure Resorts. Everyone who knew Amy loved her and her wicked sense of humour.

  • She was a keen animal lover and would always find a way to look after anyone's pets.

  • She was the 2nd born of 6 girls and became a motherly figure to the younger sisters, after her mother passed away in 2014. She even took her sisters on holiday when they had never been abroad.

  • She was a keen comedian, impressionist and prankster. Her best impression was by far David Attenborough. She could always make anyone laugh.

  • She was a keen nature photographer and artist.

She was a keen baker with a sweet tooth and even had her sweet business.
  • She was a very family oriented woman and loved nothing more than playing with her niece and nephew.

  • Her best friends were her sisters
