INSPIRIT Celebrates 20 Years in Dance & Community

OVER 2 DECADES OF INSPIRATION & ACTION!

INSPIRIT a dance company , was founded in 2004 by Christal Brown with the sole purpose of bringing together and showcasing emerging female artists and choreographers. Since its inception, INSPIRIT has grown to be an incubation tank, providing training in executive, artistic, and educational skills.

The arts in America have often been used as a catalyst for social change, identity creation and understanding culture from a place of non-linear thought. We want to continue the efforts to enliven the imagination of young people , audiences and people all over the world who may have lost or never had the ability to use their bodies in a creative way.

INSPIRIT is a teaching platform with structures such as LIQUID STRENGTH, a community engagement arm with programs like Project BECOMING and an arts integration company with programs like ART FOR ALL and WRITE TO DANCE

We are currently touring a new work, WHAT WE ASK OF FLESH. WWAOF was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts' National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Foundation and the Mellon Foundation and was partially funded by the Vermont Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Vermont Community Foundation.

INSPIRIT is currently a registered for-profit organization in Vermont and has received fiscal sponsorship with Fractured Atlas. As we shift from a nonprofit to a for-profit institution focused on education, performance, and creativity, we need your help to ensure the transition goes smoothly.

If you would like your donation to be tax deductible please visit our Fractured Atlas support page.

We are hoping that you will join us in this fundraising campaign.
Your donation will go towards:
  • giving the art of dance to rural communities throughout the country
  • provide INSPIRIT with the platform we need to share LIQUID STRENGTH with other educators around the country and certify them in a methodology that continues to grow and change and evolve not only the body but the minds, hearts and spirits of everyone it encounters.

We would love to have you as a supporter of the work to INFUSE, ENCOURAGE & INVIGORATE the art of dance back into every classroom, community and space so that we can get back to our original humanity which is the body expressing itself through our imagination in the world to build culture, community & confidence at all ages.

Additional Information about INSPIRIT's programming:

LIQUID STRENGTH
“Liquid Strength" (A technique laboratory focused on moving, intention, and analysis) combines the focus and intention of a meditative practice with a series of exercises designed to train the body in articulate expression as well as athletic execution ; Brown's class focuses on developing the total artist. Exercises will focus on alignment, torso and spinal flexibility, clarity of focus, upper body strength, lower body strength, and abdominal control. Working to transform philosophical notions of being into movement explorations, students will discover intersections between technique and performance : yielding transference.

Project: BECOMING
Project: BECOMING cultivates young girls into strong competent individuals by identifying, supporting and developing a holistic perception of self through the use of creative modalities and life coaching.
