Dental Work on Jacqui Mcdaniel

On August 9th, 2004, Jacqui McDaniel was in a horrific moped accident.  Travelling at approximately 45mph with her little sister on the back, Jacqui lost control and went face first into a tree without wearing a helmet.  Upon impact, her face separated from the rest of her skull.  She had a basal skull fracture, her eye sockets were instantly turned into powder, a crushed left wrist which severed several nerves, and several broken bones throughout her body including a compound fracture in her left femur.  Also, the accident knocked most of her teeth out of the right side of her mouth. She died twice on the 20 minute flight to Vanderbilt.  During the initial 13 hour life-saving surgery, she suffered 2 strokes in the right side of her brain, causing her left side to go deficit.  She has had, to date, just over 55 hours of surgery including 3 facial reconstructions. She was in a coma for about 6 weeks and had to learn how to walk and talk again.  For the first 14 days after the accident, the trauma doctors at Vanderbilt told her parents that she was the worst patient in the ICU and would not survive through the night.  



Jacqui survived this tragic accident and is now married and has two wonderful children. She loves sharing her story about God's love, grace and mercy to anyone who will listen.  Today, Jacqui is a living testimony to the power of prayer and her story has touched tens of thousands of people all over the world.  Her story was featured on Good Morning America in 2004 in an interview with Diane Sawyer and also featured on Crossfit.com in 2013.  The video from Crossfit has been viewed nearly 50,000 times, which is a testament to the power of her story.



We are now 10 years out from the accident and Jacqui is still feeling the effects of the accident.  Jacqui does not have dental insurance and has just been told by her dentist that she is going to need almost $10,000 worth of dental work done, just on the bottom part of her mouth, to avoid losing all of her teeth.  This will involve several root canals, pulling several teeth, and filling cavities and getting a partial.  And this is just the beginning.  This amount doesn't even take in to account the top part of her mouth.
