CEDAR Tree Revitalization

Donation protected
CEDAR stands for Concho Evergreen Dedication to Always Remember.

William Delos Tall Bear, Southern Cheyenne, passed away at the age of 85 on Tuesday September 1 at 12:52pm from complications brought on by his battle with COVID 19. William was known to his friends as "Billy D," but to his family, he was dad, grandpa,  grandpa daddy. He was a marine and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Veterans Board and a member of the Buddy Bond Color Guard. This fundraiser is to remember and honor his life and memory.

When William was a young boy, he was a student at Concho Indian Boarding school in Concho, Oklahoma. As you drive to Concho along Black Kettle Blvd, there are cedar trees that line road.   Bill remembers  when those trees were planted, when they were small. Through his years at Concho boarding school, he remembers those trees growing tall and filling out. He said they always made him feel safe. He told his granddaughter Teisha, "The cedar tree is used to doctor and heal our people."

In honor of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, the funds raised through this gofundme site will be used to help revitalize the existing cedar trees along Black Kettle Blvd. We will plant new cedar trees, dedicated in William Tall Bear's name, to bring healing to his family and to all the Cheyenne and Arapaho people.
