Justice for Antonio

Antonio is our family's protector, our guidance figure, and the backbone of his own and multiple other families who rely on him for support in Mexico.

 

The situation he is currently in is devastating for his family and many others. Last Saturday our brother Antonio was wrongfully detained and accused of a crime he did NOT commit and is now facing very serious charges that could lead to life in prison. 

There have been and currently are many irregularities with the process from the beginning of a false police investigation in Mexico. Unfortunately the authorities are looking for scapegoat to blame for a serious crime and our brother just happened to be the easiest target given his profession and goodwill. 

My brother Antonio is the eldest of four kids with a gap between him and the next of our siblings of 11yrs. Early on he took on many responsibilities and had a big hand in raising his two sisters and brother. As we grew up, he would always help my parents and would often make sure we always had Christmas presents when times were tough, and unfortunately they were so many tough times.

Tony is a very caring person and he loves helping people, when his business was doing well he would donate a truck full of toys to orphanages, foundations that fight breast cancer and many others causes with everything he could.

Unfortunately it is this very reason, the fact that he is so kind and caring that landed him in this situation. He would often help run errands for an elderly couple who went missing last Monday. He would go out of his way in his busy schedule as a Realtor and entrepreneur to help them, I witnessed his good intentions with them firsthand when a few months ago he bought a birthday cake for the elderly lady since they did not have family in the city, she was so happy when we all showed up and sang happy birthday for her. He also helped them get their medicines and fixed their T.V. as a goodwill gesture towards an elderly couple who appreciate his time. All he did was be good to them as he is to everyone else.

We ask for your help to get our brother cleared from this and return to his normal life with his 2 teen daughters and wife.

He only just got a second chance at life after being kidnapped in March last year. He moved to a new city in hopes of living a safer life and he was just getting back on his feet. He never complained about his situation, he had the best attitude and was working so hard to provide for his family and everyone that depended on him.

The Mexican legal system is extremely corrupt and the only hope we have now is to give him a good team of lawyers to prove his innocence. The fees amount to around $45,000 Canadian right now for the first part of the lawyer’s investigation and we already know it will be more money later on as hearings come. He was the backbone of our family, took care of our father, his daughters and wife and there are so many other expenses we’ll need to cover. Our funds have pretty much dried up in a matter of days.
