Let me tell you about my Mom. She has given her whole heart to her world for her entire life and it's time for her to receive. Know that your generosity will be given back 100-fold when she shares her time, effort, love and wisdom with her local community.
My Mom is the first person to sacrifice for the well being of others, volunteering for her church, helping clients in crisis, supporting my Dad and my Grandmothers through health challenges, and being the most nurturing, thoughtful mother and grandma of four. She has a special way with animals, children, and the mentally ill.
As a young mother, I saw my Mom work persistently towards her college education, in addition to working full time. My tenacity comes from her. As a Social Worker, you won't find someone in her field that is more committed to standing up for what's right. She taught me the importance of integrity. I grew up with a Mom that nurtured my creativity and connection to nature, values that have kept me grounded and connected to my spirituality through challenging times in my life. Somehow, she always managed to provide a cozy house and home cooked meals. And there was never a shortage of dessert! Yes, my sugar habit is her fault too!
Always putting her own needs on hold, my Mom has traveled very little and never out of the country. The last time I recall my Mom taking a trip on her own, it was to donate a kidney to her cousin!
Last year, I was fortunate to experience the most soul nourishing week of my life on a Qoya Retreat in Costa Rica. When I told my Mom about it she said, "Pack me in your suitcase!" I am returning this year and plan to actually become a Qoya Teacher. This retreat is so much more than a vacation. It can fill you up in ways that you can draw for years. I know my Mom needs to join me. During my time there, I saw several women her age there, some with their daughters, softening, opening connecting to their bodies, their inner wisdom and joy.
So with immense humility and gratitude, I am asking for your support to help me remind my Mom that her essence as wise, wild and free.
