Last season was a very successful season for the Central City Robotics program.  With the generous community support last year, our program was able to:

- Start a robotics course was started at the high school, which had 8 students. Students learned programming and building skills, as well as the challenges of engineering.
- Support two teams, Team 4156 (RoboCats Red) and Team 11252 (RoboCats Black) that participated in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) , with a total of 17 students participating.
- Support middle school participation in FIRST Lego League (FLL) , which had one team post the top competition score in the state of Iowa!

Team 4156 earned the following accolades:
* League Tournament Finalist
* State Championship Finalist
* Northern US Super Regional Qualifier (one of the top 288 teams in the country)
* Team member Chase Van Amerongen was one of 100 Dean’s List Finalists in the country, which awards individuals for their commitment to their team and communities.

A school of our size in truly lucky to have robotics.
The teams have been generously supported by businesses and individuals from Central City. The teams sincerely thank all of those who help support our robotics program. Given the expensive nature of robotics (Our robot last year had about $1000 in parts), the program could not sustain itself without these generous donations. Any support provided would help the teams tremendously.  Don't forget, many companies (like Rockwell Collins, AEGON, and many others) offer gift matching as an employee benefit. Your donation may be able to be matched by your employer even if you are retired!

Community support of the robotics program does more than just pay for parts.  Through building robots, our team learned engineering design principles, computer programming, physics, and electronics.  More importantly, we learned teamwork, met new people across the country, and how to be gracious professionals.

This year we hope to expand our efforts and get even more students involved in the robotics program.  Along with plans to continue supporting the teams and course, we plan to engage younger students even more.  We have already started by participating in the Linn County Fair, where kids of all ages could take turns building and driving robots, and having a lego robotics week at the summer preschool. We believe that our program has the ability to grow and continue to share success with the Central City community.  We hope that your support can generate even more excitement in the program and help us reach our new goal of advancing to the World Championship in Detroit .

Sincerely,

Wildcat Robotics
