C.C.C. Cancer Care Costs America
Donation protected
My husband was diagnosed last year of a very rare stage IV lung cancer, that had spread to the spine. Our most recent scan has shown the cancer has progressed to other sites.... After 14 months of Chemotherapy and immunotherapy we have reached the end of the road for treatment in Europe.
There is a phase 2 trial taking place in America for a drug that specifically targets the Exon 20 mutation, called Poziotinib made by Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, while our comprehensive health insurance covers Europe it does not cover America...
Of the hospitals contacted in America, access to the trial is possible once a minimum deposit of $250,000 has been made to the oncology department, only then will it be possible to access the phase 2 trail.
Leaving behind a wife and 4 children at this late stage in Andrews cancer journey, is not ideal however we are advised by our medical oncology team at CUH we have no other option.
Unfortunately time is against us, with last weeks scan showing progression, and as such a decision has to be made imminently, once the funds are available and a deposit has been paid we are advised Andrew will be able to commence the trial within 2 weeks.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated, and if you feel comfortable please consider sharing this. Should donations exceed funds required they will be donated to cancer research Ireland.
