S.O.S. - SAVE OUR SCHOOL!

Dear Friends:

We come to you in dire need. The ongoing closure of the Contra Costa Ballet Centre due to COVID-19 has drastically reduced the school’s revenue for March, April, and now May, and not only threatens our ability to keep the studio – the studio we’ve called home for over 45 years! – but also poses devastating consequences for our students, our faculty, and our future. We need YOUR help!

We Need to Raise $60,000 THIS Month!
We’re sending out an S.O.S. to Save Our School! We need to raise $60,000 by the end of May. Despite our best efforts, we were not able to benefit from the Paycheck Protection Program, nor were we granted rent reduction. Therefore, your contribution is CRITICAL to our efforts to secure the studio and support our faculty and operations for the upcoming school year and beyond. Funds raised will go toward the following estimated expenses:

$35,000        Saving Our Studio – rent and utilities for the studio through June

$15,000        Supporting Our Team – payroll for faculty and staff who are fighting tirelessly to save our school

$10,000        Securing Our Future – equipment, services and/or technology needed for us to adapt and provide safe learning for our students and staff during the pandemic

Who Will Benefit:

-Our Students-
Prior to the COVID-19 shutdown, we had over 400 dedicated dancers in the studio – enthusiastic adults and exceptional youth, many of whom have spent nearly their entire childhood under the tutelage of CCBC faculty. Without the studio, their training and aspirations are in jeopardy – CCBC is the ONLY fully-developed classical ballet academy in Contra Costa County. Your contribution would help ensure that our students’ years of hard work and dedication are rewarded and that many more dancers will have the opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of dance for years to come.

-Our Team-
Our wonderful team is our FAMILY, and we know many of you feel the same about them too! We call them the “dream team” not only for individually being the highest professionals in our field, but because of how spectacularly they work together to make amazing things happen for our students. Our teachers have devoted their careers, their lives, to developing dancers and are personally invested in each of our students. Your contribution would help afford our team the opportunity to continue sharing their passion and specialized expertise with those who can benefit most.

-Our Community-
We're very proud that the love and hard work we’ve put in at the studio has generously flowed out into the community through our youth company programs and performances. We created Contra Costa County’s first "Nutcracker" which, for over 30 years, has been a holiday tradition for tens of thousands of families in Walnut Creek and the surrounding area. And, our alumni are highly involved in the community as professional dancers, directors and teachers, dance-medicine specialists, and fervent supporters of the arts. Your contribution would help us to continue bringing the world of ballet into our local community and beyond.

Saving Our History, Sharing Our Dream
By supporting our studio, our team and our future, you’re also saving the Contra Costa Ballet Centre’s history – a piece of Walnut Creek history – which spans nearly 60 years! What began in 1961 as a tiny ballet school residing in the old Crogan’s building in downtown Walnut Creek, became in 1987 the realization of our dream to own a ballet school (a dream that began as young dancers at American Ballet Theatre), and for the past 33 years, has transformed into the only fully-developed classical ballet academy in Contra Costa County.

We are passionate about saving our school, our history, teachers, pianists, staff, youth company and all of our dancers who study, grow and make memories and friends that last a lifetime. We want CCBC to thrive for decades to come and would be so grateful for your contribution at ANY level!

Thank you CCBC friends, families and alums for all your support – both through the decades and now. Be safe and well!

Best regards,

Zola Dishong & Richard Cammack, Directors
