Hello to everyone, I hope you and your family are doing well.
My name is Johnny Stobbs, I am the President of the Corpus Christi Firefighters Association Local 936. Hurricane Harvey passed through our area a little over a week ago, making landfall between Port Aransas and Port O'Connor, Texas, as a Category 4 storm with winds of 130+ mph, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. This storm was unprecedented and the devastation that I have witnessed over the past week, from Port Aransas, Ingleside, Ingleside on the Bay, Aransas Pass, Austwell, Rockport, Bayside, Woodsboro, Refugio, is enough to make anyone sad and some cry, but I've also witnessed whole communities pull together to help one another and strangers helping strangers, people from as far away as Arizona, California, Colorado, Washington, Massachusetts, New York and the list goes on and on. To each of those, I say Thank You and God Bless you.
As first responder's, we are ready at a moments notice to come to the aid of the community and our fellow brothers/sisters, I witnessed this first hand as well, guys and gals would work their shift and spend the next two days out in the communities hardest hit, clearing trees and debri off of houses and out of driveways, just so people could get back to their houses, not to mention all the water and food that they delivered as well.
We have had several Corpus Christi firefighters, who live in the areas hardest hit by Harvey, suffer severe loss of thier homes due to Hurricane Harvey. The funds raised from this campaign will go directly to the firefighters that are displaced from the storm. These funds will be used to help these firefighters rebuild their houses and provide shelter for thier families.
