Get On Track

The Cocoa Beach Kiwanis Foundation is undertaking the largest fundraising campaign in its 67-year history with a financial goal of $450,000 to refurbish the Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School Track. “Get On Track” is a student-initiated project to resurface the Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School track in cooperation with Cocoa Beach Kiwanis and Cocoa Beach Cross Country Booster Club. Our goal through GoFundMe is half the total needed for the entire project, $225,000. We expect to raise the balance of funds through local activities in the community. Cocoa Beach Kiwanis Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization.
The track at Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School has deteriorated to the extent that it is a safety concern for our athletes. The current track is 7 lanes of ill repair asphalt with cracks, breaks, and a roughened, uneven surface, conditions which lead to injury. It is no longer a regulation track suitable for meets. The Brevard County School District does not have a timeline in its facilities program to resurface the track at Cocoa Beach. Restoration of our track will allow Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School to support the training needs of its athletes and host track meets.
Our goal is to raise enough money to refurbish the track and field facility, including:
• Removal of 7 lanes of existing asphalt.
• Addition of 1 lane.
• Removal of asphalt from runways for long jump and pole vault, shot put and discus circles.
• New asphalt applied to 8 lanes, runways, high jump, and shot put and discus circles.
• 6-inch curbing inside and outside of the new asphalt.
• Addition of polyurethane rubber compound to all new surfaces.
We are seeking individuals, organizations, and businesses to contribute to this effort. All donors will be recognized on the Get On Track website, https://www.cbhsgetontrack.com. Additionally, donors at the following levels will be recognized on a donor board to be erected within the Cocoa Beach stadium:
Platinum: $25,000 and up
Gold: $10,000 - $24,999
Silver: $5,000 - $9,999
Bronze: $1,000 - $4,999

The track team has been the most successful competitive team representing Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School at the state level since the school opened in August 1964. Of the Cocoa Beach State Champions, 30 of 44 are in track. We want to restore the excellence of the past on the athletes of today.
Current condition of the Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School track:
Lane 1 cracks are large enough to germinate plants.
Lane 4 has a crack around the entire length of the track.
Rough, uneven surface throughout.
Long jump and pole vault runways.
Pole vault pit.
