2021 Back to School Fair

Every year during the month of July the Franklin County Back to School Fair (FCBTSF) organization, in partnership with  Jefferson/Franklin Community Action (JFCAC), hosts a school fair for the under-resourced families in Franklin  County. At the fair, kids receive backpacks, school supplies, clothing, haircut vouchers, a meal and information from  organizations regarding different programs available to their family, all FREE. 

Because of the pandemic, we changed  the format of the fair to a drive thru event and only opened the building for families to get clothes and shoes. We  have amazing volunteers who went the extra mile to ensure the event ran as smoothly as possible. The families loved all the changes and we had over 900 children participate in the fair last July. The average cost of school supplies is $30 per child, which doesn’t include clothes or shoes, and we’re hoping for 1,000 kids at the 2021 Fair!  

We realize it’s been a hard year for everyone and we’re no exception. In fact, all of our fund raisers for the 2021 fair season have been cancelled due to the pandemic and we are relying solely on community donations to help us reach our goal. We realize this is a big number and an even bigger ask in the current economic climate, especially when we  stand alone. But together I think we can reach our goal of serving the under-resourced kids in Franklin County and supply over 1,000 kids this year.

 We look  forward to partnering with the citizens of Franklin County as we build into our future leaders.
