Castro Family Rebuild Fund

Hi my name is Roberto Castro. My family and I (Silvia Garcia, Luis Cortes, Blas Castro, Jonathan Jones) were part of the many families who have lost everything in the San Diego Floods on 1/22/24. Living in Spring Valley, outside of the mapped flood zone, Our house did not have flood insurance. Within minutes everything we had was destroyed. My brother Blas and i jumped out of our front window with our dogs to escape. All we could do was watch it all wash away and be thankful to have made it out.

We’ve spent days cleaning and salvaging what we can, which isn’t much. My dad’s ashes were found floating in the flood waters-his urn completely destroyed. Food was lost. Our cars washed away. I don’t even have a pillow to call my own.

We’ve began to clean up what is left of our home. I’m quickly learning rebuilding won’t come easy or cheap. It’s a humbling and helpless feeling. To be completely transparent, I’m not one to ask for help, so doing this is completely out of my comfort zone. But the reality is- we need your help. I’m doing everything I can to help bring back our home. Especially for my mom.

Everything raised here will be used to help with paying for the restoration of our home.
