HELP Save Casey Slocum's eyesight

Donation protected

Casey’s race against losing his eyesight; this fundraiser is to help Casey and his wife Andie Slocum. Casey is battling losing his eyesight while his wife Andie is battling breast cancer, heart valve disease and end stage arthritis, leaving her totally disabled.

Some of you may remember Casey who raced his red #97 midget in the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association in Denver Colorado from 1978 to 2003. He and his father “Slim” (Kenny Slocum) were seen devotedly race after race, fulfilling Casey’s passion for racing.

Casey and Andie decided to move to California in October 2014 so that Andie could live out her time close to their daughter Kellie, son-in law Michael and Casey's best buddy and grandson Leland.

Two weeks prior to moving, Casey was diagnosed with Graves Disease resulting in a dramatic loss of 50 lbs.  The week prior to leaving, Casey  had radiation on his thyroid.  And just four short months later, Casey was diagnosed with  Graves Eye Disease  (Ophthalmopathy). Casey’s eye muscles are swollen four times their normal size causing them to crush the optical nerves as well as severe double and triple vision.

He had his first of 6 scheduled surgeries on May 18th, the second June 21, and the third on August 28th 2015.  The first 5 surgeries are to make room in his head for the swollen muscles and his bulging eyes. The last one will be to position his eyes for better vision.

Casey has not been able to work since they left Denver. Their families have been helping financially but this has become a financial burden for them and they can no longer help. Casey will most likely not be able to work for the next year and Andie is totally disabled with the next stage being a wheelchair. They have reached out for help from various Human Resources
to help fill the void for the loss of income and new medical expenses to no avail. This includes insurance payments and the 20% out of pocket expense that the family must pay, which is quickly piling up; hence the money goal for this GoFund Me.

Against all odds, they’ve both continued to fight through their challenges with a positive and uplifting attitude. With your help, they will be able to continue their fight!

Please find it in your heart to donate, anything helps! If a donation is out of reach, prayers would be helpful. Please share with all of your friends on Facebook! Call your friends that know Casey and Andie to make sure they are aware of this campaign. Let’s try to help these two wonderful people in any way possible!
