CAS ROBOTIC TEAM URUGUAY HERE WE COME!

Tomorrow's innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Every year, FIRST LEGO League releases a Challenge, which is based on a real-world scientific topic (food safety, recycling, energy, etc.) and are challenged to develop a solution. Each Challenge has three parts:  the Robot Game, the Project, and the Core Values. Guided by adult coaches, students must design, build, and  program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS and compete with these on a table-top playing field. Team within each country represented attend and participate in an official tournament.

It all adds up to tons of fun while students learn to apply science, technology, engineering, and math concepts (STEM) plus use their imagination to solve a problem.  During the process of this journey, students develop critical thinking and team-building skills, basic STEM applications, and even presentation skills, as they present their solutions enhanced with imagination skills to the team of judges.  The Program's Core Values are also practiced through this experience.

The FIRST LEGO League hosts a competition in Guatemala open to all schools.  In April, Colegio Sagrado Corazon won 1st Place in all categories in this event.  This team  then had the opportunity to represent Guatemala in the World Festival in Houston at the end of April.

Colegio Americano del Sur (CAS) won 2nd Place in the April, Guatemalan competition held  including 25 other  Guatemalan schools.  This gave the CAS team the opportunity to go to the Open FIRST Lego in Uruguay on May 28th-June 2nd.  This competition will have 60 countries from around the world participating.

HELP CAS REPRESENT GUATEMALA IN URUGUAY!  In order for the six team members and two coaches to attend this event we need to raise $14,000.  We have raised $6,700!

HELP CAS raise the remaining $7,300!!!!!

Our Robotics Club meets twice a week and includes students from both Middle and High School.
Our project topic was how to improve  an astronaut´s life while in space.  We focused on the psychological effects that take place  in space.  Our project consisted of a special suit with sensors, an augmented reality helmet and two Humanoid robots.

Our idea was to replicate and create a realistic feeling of connection between the astronaut in space and the robots.  The special suit and helmet we created provided the ability to transmit feelings between the robots and the astronaut. This would allow the experience of being  close to each other( while one is in space) rather then having the actual distance between each other, minimizing the effects of loneliness, sadness and depression experienced by many astronauts.

Our Robotic Team hopes to present the next step  of our project.  We have the opportunity to do this by going to the First Lego League Plan Ceibal Uruguay International Open on May 28th, 2019 representing Guatemala!

PLEASE HELP our dream come true!

THANK YOU!
