We all know those people that come into your life and have a profound impact. For many including us, Donald Carter was one of those people. He selflessly gave of himself for the betterment of others. He single-handedly sparked a wave of kindness like few others could.
Well now, Donald and his family need all that kindness pointed at them.
This Saturday, March 24th, we lost Donald’s wife and Lainee and Miles’ mom, Kristin Carter.
Donald always talks about how powerful of a woman Kristin was and loved her in such a committed, compassionate way that only Donald could. We admired that.
Donald and Kristin had been through a lot, more than most would endure but that speaks to the bond they shared. They also shared an unrelenting passion for strengthening their community which was on display in the KCPT documentary Our Divided City.
Kristin had a commitment to sharing stories and images of their neighborhood — a part of town many won’t dare visit — in an attempt to shed light on an underserved world quite foreign to many fellow Kansas Citians.
Donald and Kristin’s impact on the world, especially Kansas City has been profound and it’s that impact and life that we should be celebrating today.
This fundraiser is the least we can do to support Donald, Lainee and Miles in this unimaginably difficult time and provides them the flexibility to do whatever they need to heal.
Please be generous like Donald has modeled for us so many times. Encourage others too as well.
