Help fix Carrot's broken leg

Carrot, our amazing male cat, was found this morning limping through the back yard with his leg tucked underneath him.  He wouldn't allow anyone to get close to him and kept hobbling away.  Finally he was captured and taken to the vet.  He's got a shattered femur.  The vet stated they've never seen a broken leg this bad.  He requires surgery to keep his leg or they can amputate.  Surgery will run around $3000 and amputation will be around $1000.  Carrot means the WORLD to Claire (his human mom) and she really wants to get him fixed.  However, we simply don't have the funds to get this done.  If you can help Carrot keep his leg, we'd be TREMENDOUSLY APPRECIATIVE!!  We're not used to asking for financial help, so THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH!!
