Help Carrie Beat Cancer

Donation protected
The Smith family started off on a new journey at the end of September as Adam, Carrie, and their 4 children relocated from South Carolina to New Orleans for Adam's work. They love adventure! They had no idea this adventure would include a health crisis, let alone one this close to the holiday season.

Shortly after arriving in New Orleans, Carrie started feeling tired. With 4 kids under 13 and moving to a new state, she's bound to feel tired, right? Then she started having trouble breathing. She had trouble swallowing. She knew something was wrong. She was rushed to the hospital during an especially difficult time and the family received the diagnosis: thyroid cancer. What makes this case especially troublesome is that the largest tumor is 6.1 cm. There are also several smaller tumors around that large tumor. She just had further tests done last week to see if the cancer has spread because her condition is worsening.

The doctors have informed her that her airway is so constricted by the largest tumor that it is not safe for her to sleep without monitoring and medical devices nearby in case she does stop breathing. She checks in with the doctors each night and gets hooked up to monitors so she can sleep, if you can call it that, at the hospital each night. Then  she rushes home at 5 AM so Adam can get to work. That bill alone is $300 a night. Can you imagine?

Unlike many families, Carrie's family DID plan ahead financially for such an emergency as this. That money is long gone. Carrie will have at least one surgery in the weeks ahead. She has several EXPENSIVE medicines she needs to be taking before the surgery and several she'll need to take after the surgery. She will need radiation and possibly chemotherapy. Don't forget it's almost Christmas time.

I met Carrie at Christian Life High School in Rockford, IL many, many, many moons ago. I knew back then that God had a very important mission for her life. You see, even back then, she took care of people. Her heart was huge and she was kind to everyone. She's the kind of person you might hope your kids find at their school. The kind of person you might hope your kid becomes. That huge heart has helped her become a fantastic mommy to her 4 children. She's a home schooling mommy and her kids need her.

That huge heart has also helped her SAVE countless canine lives across the United States. Literally rescued dogs before their life was about to end at shelters. That's the kind of person she is. Don't hate me, Carrie, but she's also a person that always helps others and will never ask for help for herself.

Let me be the one to tell you, they need help. They need a lot of help. They need it quickly. It hurts to be in this position. They need prayers. They need financial support to help them get back on their feet. More than that, they need friends to help with meals and help with the kids and help with housework. But they just moved and they don't have anyone to help. Please pray for God to send them local people to help. Please pray for Carrie to be healed. Please pray for strength for the family. Please pray for God's financial blessings to arrive so that the family has a little less stress.

If you would like to help Adam and Carrie keep Christmas as normal as possible for the kids, please be on the lookout for an Amazon wish list for Christmas gifts. If you would like to help with groceries, please let us know so we can help get a Walmart order ready for Adam or Carrie to pick up. If you would like to send a financial blessing so that Carrie can purchase and take her medicine on schedule, please do. Every little donation really does add up.

Thank you for taking the time to read about the struggle Carrie and her family are facing this Christmas. Thank you for the prayers for healing and strength. Thank you for financially blessing this wonderful family during what is supposed to be "the most wonderful time of the year." Carrie, we are standing with you!  We are believing with you that in Jesus' name, you WILL be healed! We love you, friend! <3 Heather, Brad, and Ellie Johnson
