Friends helping Carrie get HOME!

Donation protected
Update: 9:45pm Thank you all for your amazing help! My brother didn't have any death benefits so whatever is left I'll be using to help with expenses of the services. It's so devastating when all of this seems to come out of nowhere and you're left to try to carry on.  I'm grateful for the support that will allow me to get home to be with my family.  I did 'up' the goal in hopes I can help with service costs.  So grateful for the support that will get me there!

I'm so grateful for your help!

My brother, Gary, 47 years old, passed last night (5/18) after a heart attack.  He died almost instantly and though my mom did CPR until the ambulance arrived, after being shocked and intubated he was unable to be saved by paramedics and hospital staff. He had chest pains the day before, went to the ER and they sent him home after a few hours saying he was fine! Life is SO short!

The funeral is scheduled for this weekend already (in Virginia) and I'm all the way in CA.

Some friends asked me to set up a place they can help with a small donation. I'm in tears that anyone would want to help me and originally said no to donation offers. However,  I  was reminded that I'm always the 'first one to jump whenever someone has a problem'.   And that I asked for people to pray for a solution- this is a solution.

So, if you would like to donate a little to help me get home (airlines don't offer bereavement fares any longer- last minute flights are extremely expensive) and I'll need to rent a car and get a place to stay for the time I'm there, I'd be grateful!

I'm not good with asking for help-biggest weakness! But I sincerely appreciate all your kind words and thoughts! Please pray for my family as we grieve.

PS adding this after this got started... God is SO amazing. I've been upset (mostly hurt because I did my best) that God is taking a job away that I really wanted to leave anyway and working on trusting that something new would come along. I think His plan was for me to have some time to grieve and deal with things like this that I didn't know were coming before going to a new place.  Last week (before I was asked to resign) I donated to several different charities and missions trips. I had a thought this morning telling me I should have held onto that money for this... but God already knew that people are amazing and when given an opportunity- they will do something for someone else! I'm not sure if my job will let me go almost 2 weeks early tomorrow after I tell them I need to leave the state to go to a funeral but I know that if God can get me to VA, he will take care of that too!  He is good, all the time!

Thank you for reading! Thank you for your love and kindness! Thank you for your friendship- no matter how big or small it may be! Thank you for your prayers and thoughts for my family as we say goodbye to my brother. Thankful he's at peace.

 Love,
Carrie
