Carried By Love - Kristen Hunt

In May 2014 Kristen made an appointment to her OBGYN, although her pregnancy tests were coming back negative, she thought that she and my brother might be pregnant! They told close family and we were all delighted! But when the day of her appointment came, there was bad news. Kristen was not pregnant, and in fact something was terribly wrong. The doctor ordered an MRI and CAT scan. What they found was that rather than a baby, Kristen had a tumor. They estimated the tumor to be around 5 1/2 inches in diameter and growing against her spinal cord as well as her reproductive organs. It was a terrifying discovery. After further testing it was determined that the mass was likely not cancerous, but needed to be removed immediately. On Friday, July 11th Kristen went to surgery at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with a team of elite surgeons. After 6 hours, the doctors told the family that they were successful in removing the tumor and that it was in fact larger than originally anticipated. The next morning Kristen was in extreme pain and when one of the nurses discovered that her right foot had no pulse and was cold to the touch, they gave her a CT scan and discovered a large blood clot in her right leg. Kristen was taken back to surgery where they then reopened her incision to remove the blood clot. After more recovery time, Kristen's right leg became abnormally swollen, and was taken to surgery yet again to relieve the swelling by having two large incisions on either side of her leg. So in three days she went under the knife three times. Her team of doctors have been great and done everything in their power and expertise to take the best possible care of Kristen. She is known as the sweetest personality in the hospital. Some of the staff has even come in to see her while off shift because they already care for her so much. With that being said, Kristen has a very long road ahead of her. With physical therapy, nerve therapy, and lots of recovery time. Doctors have expressed that although originally they hoped to have her home in 3 or 4 days, it will be much longer now. We are hoping that there will be no more surgeries necessary, but have been told there may be a few more in her near future. If you know Kristen and Chris, you know that they are truly a match made in heaven. They have a love that most people dream of. Their relationship with each other is only second to their relationship with Christ. This is a difficult time for both of them. And on top of Kristen's medical issues they now have another battle to face. The bills to come. With Kristen unable to work, and Chris taking the time to stay right by her side and go through the journey with her. They need help. They refuse to ask for it so I have set up this find secretly for the two most deserving people I have ever known. If you would like to help in any way you can it would be most appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our family's heart and God Bless.
