If you can find it in your heart and your pockets to contribute, all amounts are welcome. May God continue to bless and keep you! Here is a little info about Carolyn Albritton. You will soon know why the “I love You Carolyn “go fund me is precious to all who has ever meet her.

Carolyn Albritton has been in the entertainment industry for many years molding and managing some of today’s hottest entertainers.

Like a quiet storm, Carolyn Albritton has systematically continued to find and nurture some of Chicago’s finest talent while simultaneously honing her own skills to insure the end results which have become her trademark…. Success! As we have come to realize, there are many conceptions of what constitutes true success, depending upon whom you choose to ask. However, for Carolyn Albritton its pure and simple… perfection, professionalism, consistency, timing, planning, value and hard work. These are some of the words which best describe her work.

A down to earth, warm, sincere mothering nature coupled with an impeccable record of honesty and integrity, has become the standard for Carolyn’s approach to coping with a changing industry. Having the patience of Job, Carolyn unselfishly takes the time to thoroughly review and revise every aspect of the needs of her Artists whether it is vocal assistance or stage presence, attitude adjustment or transportation to the set.

Having a finger on the pulse of the market is of great importance to a person in Carolyn’s position. Therefore, don’t be surprised if you find her seated in a corner among the guests observing and carefully listening to their critiques as she videotapes the show to use as a future training tool. Of course, good communication with the artists is always helpful, but equally as important is one’s reputation in the industry at large. From Merrillville, Indiana to Martha’s Vineyard, Carolyn is always the same. An unpretentious Aries with a heart of gold, she roams the entertainment jungle with the prowess of a lioness seeking food for her hungry cubs.

During the late 70s and early 80s Carolyn worked in the music and public relations division for Playboy Magazine, her first booking at Playboy was big band called “The Lock and Chain featuring Chaka Kahn”.

During this period Carolyn, fostered many different ventures including spear heading the launch and financing of the critically acclaimed Joseph Holmes Dance Theatre. After years of relationship building and a string of successes, Albritton felt that there was a source of untouched talent that had not been tapped into… in her very own backyard, Chicago.

This epiphany prompted Carolyn to start her “Star Search” and in collaboration with Dr. Yvon Nazon, Owner of the Cotton Club, “Carolyn’s Open Mic”, was born.

Albritton launched “Open Mic” out of her uncompromising love of discovering talent. Such as Comedians “Bernie Mac, Adele Givens, Sheryl Underwood , Damon Williams, R&B Artist R. Kelly , Actor Carl Wright , Saxophonist Art Porter and Ray Silkman, Violinist Savior  Faire, Rapper Unique and many Jazz Artists and Bands have benefited from their relationships with Carolyn.

Whether casting for plays and movies or booking for Chicago‘s liveliest nightspots and concerts, Carolyn has been and still remains, responsible for keeping a vast number of Chicago artist working. Aside from Open Mic, Carolyn was also responsible for booking legendary National Artist at the Cotton Club, such as Charlie Byrd of the Great Guitars, Carmen McRae, Shirley Horn, Morgana King, Pancho Sanchez, Cassandra Wilson, Roy Ayers, Mongo Santamaria and many more.

Carolyn Albritton is not only known for finding the best talent, but also for taking them a step further, developing, teaching and training them to be the best that they can be.  Albritton has created, produced and directed several concerts to sell out audiences and jump – starting some of Chicago’s hottest musical productions. Her sellout musical concerts are The Awesome Threesome (featuring Dee Alexander, Ray Silkman and Savior Faire), Sax in the City (featuring Ray Silkman, Audley Reid and Skinny Williams) Rhythms of Thunder (featuring Charles Heath, Dana Hall and Ernie Adams) Chicago Great Guitars (Curtis Robinson, Calvin Keys, Buddy Fambro and Henry Johnson).

“In 1992, Carolyn and her son Leon Albritton recognized the raw and undeveloped talent of struggling comedian Bernard “Bernie Mac” McCullough they proceeded to nurture and cultivate Bernie’s career as his personal manager and co- manager until 1998.

Carolyn is currently working on a book chronicling the past years of her experience in the entertainment industry “The good, the bad and of course … the ugly!”

In the past 10 years, Carolyn has arranged and booked some of Chicago’s outstanding jazz artist Playboy, Rumors of Chicago, Checkerboard Lounge, Room 43 for the Hyde Park Jazz Society, The 50 Yard Line Lounge, Cuatro Restaurant and The Cotton Club. Currently (for the past 12 years) she is the Music Producer for the HYDE PARK COURTYARD JAZZ and HYDE PARK JAZZ FESTIVAL.
