Hello Friends of Carol,
Carol has let us know the unfortunate news that her cancer has returned. It's not what any of us wanted to hear, but Carol is facing this situation with the trademark strength and positivity that we all admire so much in her.
When something like this happens to a friend, we all feel eager to help in any way possible. The very best support we can give Carol at this time is through fundraising.
Carol is a self-employed voice teacher and she will again have to take unpaid time off work during her treatment weeks. In an effort to take better care of herself this time around, she would also like to hire occasional help around the house.
She has not met her insurance deductible and will be paying out of pocket. Doctor appointments, pharmacy, and blood tests will run a little over $200 per month, not including supplements. And she still hasn’t received an official dollar amount for the cost of this round of chemo.
Carol is working with the Clearity Foundation in San Diego. They only work with ovarian cancer patients. She is being encouraged to get a test that will cost $4,000. This will look at genes more thoroughly than a Braca test. The foundation will also guide Carol in her maintenance after treatment and let her know of current drug trials.
She will also be looking into joining a drug trial for maintenance after treatment. Depending on where the trial is, she may have to fly to that city and stay a few days at a time.
Carol was so thankful for all of your support last time she faced cancer treatment two years ago. Let's all show her again how much we love her and how much this community has to give her. All of your donations, no matter the size, and your sharing of this campaign will help ease this rough road for Carol.
