Y'all this is my 5-year-old cousin Carly Martin. She has severe progressing infantile scoliosis.
She just started a special kindergarten program that allows her to go half days and homebound teacher assistance during hospital stays. Her bones are so fragile she's broken both her legs. After years of traveling to Atlanta and Charlotte for castings and months of being placed in a surgical Halo Traction, her curvature is worse than when doctors started. The next step is a different surgical Halo Traction and then a series of surgeries to correct her back. She has a hernia that is growing in her chest and is putting pressure on her lungs. Most days she is in a lot of pain... and doctors don't plan to operate until she gets older. Her friends and our family are working to raise money to help cover her medical bills.
