Carly Meyer "Teaching Cancer a Lesson" round #2

Carly Meyer a Kindergarten teacher, Teaching Cancer a Lesson!

Wednesday 8/7: Carly was admitted to Virginia Gay Hospital relating to complications from a miscarriage in May. After a subsequent trip to St Luke's that night, Carly was battling a severe blood infection which led to multiple IV antibiotics and blood cultures.

Friday afternoon 8/9: The team of doctors broke the news that Carly has a form of Leukemia.

Friday evening 8/9: Carly was transported to the U of Ia where more blood work was done.

Over the weekend they continued to fight off the infection to get that under control before they can start Chemo.

Monday 8/12:  she underwent a bone marrow biopsy that will diagnose the specific type of Leukemia.

Tuesday 8/13: We got a better understanding of a treatment plan going forward. Carly has been through hell the past couple of weeks but her fight, willpower, and perseverance will ultimately kick this cancer's ass.

8/14: The biopsy results returned and indicated Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Carly started her first chemotherapy treatment tonight. It will be a 7 day/24 hour IV. This is day 1 of a minimum 30 day stay. She will be off of work for a minimum of 5 months if all goes as planned. Please keep her in your blessings.

8/22: Had a little set back today.  The PICC line used for Chemo, blood draws, and IV’s formed a blood clot today.  Now she is on blood thinners and the PICC line was removed and placed in her other arm.  They were unable to get the new PICC line in as far as they would like so they put in what they call a mid line. Because of the blood thinners they need to get her platelets above 20 or she has to have another transfusion.  She is currently below due to the chemo so she has received platelets and a blood transfusion today. She is very tired but in good spirits.

Please say a prayer for my family and keep us in your thoughts

We want to thank each and every person who has reached out and offered their love and support.
