To all of his co-workers he was known as someone that they can always rely on because the great amount of integrity and accountability he had. Every where he went, he was respected and sought after. Since he was such a hard worker, working out of town weeks at a time, to help support his mother, his presence at family gatherings was always greatly appreciated and cherished.

Carlos Ortiz came home from a long day of work when all of a sudden he was found unconscious and unresponsive. He was taken to the nearest emergency room in Port Arthor, where the doctors determined that his condition was too severe for their capabilities so he was quickly transported to Jennie Sealy Hospital in Gavleston Tx., where friends and family accompanied him throughout his fight.
